Participation

We foster collaborative approaches with all the stake-holders.

Our programmes foster empathy, enable everyone to engage and to have a voice. It reaches across generations, benefitting people of all origins, genders and religions.

The social impact of Anouk Foundation murals are enhanced by the participation of patients and residents and broadened by the engagement of schools and companies.

Transforming the patient experience to be more inclusive and proactive is highly beneficial. Thank you for your fantastic method and approach.

Youth: draw your ideal hospital

Anouk Foundation runs the Art4Impact programme in both hospitals and in schools.

The programme invites young people to create drawings that will transform the impersonal hospital into a welcoming and child-friendly environment.

The best drawings are painted extra large by the Foundation's painters on the walls of hospitals.

…it is something more than a class assignment… we can use art to make the world a better place and connect with people whom we may never know or see but can emotionally support them during their time of need.

- Jason, High School Student, USA

Adults & seniors: contributors

Social participation is considered a positive determinant of health and well-being.

Older adults are at an elevated risk of adverse health effects associated with social isolation and loneliness. It is easy and efficient to use our method of therapeutic frescoes to encourage the participation and involvement of residents, their families and the staff through a series of workshops.

The workshop was certainly enriching. I felt valued, useful and I was able to get to know other people living in this nursing home.

- Paulette, 85 years, resident of medicalised nursing home, EMS Clair-Soleil

Refugees: participants

Asylum seekers may lack literacy in the host language, and many are coping with the impacts of trauma associated with forced displacement.

To accomplish successful projects in refugee centres, we create inclusive environments. It is an opportunity to improve the atmosphere of the center and foster communication.

Our workshops allow the residents to work alongside our artists from the very beginning of each project.

All participated : the residents young and old, the social team and the artists! All felt involved and respected! The project brought cohesion and life to the centre and what is great is that the project continues to live on long after the Anouk team has left.

Scientific support

During a stay in a hospital or an institution, patients or residents are weak and stressed, separated from their families, immersed in a universe that can seem hostile. A growing body of research shows that enhancing social and medical institutions with specific types of artwork can speed up a patient’s healing process and improve overall well-being for residents and staff.
